Both groups now participating in our Partnership Program.

3. The policy towards commercial group members was also discussed. So far there is one commercial organization interested in cooperation with R-AMA - it is Foreign Consultants, Inc. from Illinois. This company is in business of evaluation of foreign credentials, mostly related to nurses. The company also would like to join R-AMA in the active defense of Russian professionals in the USA. Anyone interested can take a look at their web site www.foregnconsultants.com and share his opinion about the goals and benefits of such cooperation.

4. The policy towards the Russian-Speaking Medical Professionals of Massachusetts. There is a Russian physician's group in Boston that is considering joining R-AMA. We are currently working on the adaptation of R-AMA by-laws to accommodate the interests of both groups. When all documentation and issues will be worked out Dr. Vinogradsky will go to Boston to meet with the Board of Directors of RSMPM and together they will finalize the agreement. The intent is to admit this group to R-AMA as a Massachusetts State Chapter.

6. The expenditures of the Association were discussed: a membership fees report, logo design and payment to the web-site designer.

7. The preparation for the Indianapolis Clinical Conference "Business in Medicine" was discussed with Dr. Dmitry Arbuck.

8. The goal and tasks of a trip to Russia in October 2004: Board members didn't come to a decision about the place to go (either to big centers like Moscow or St. Petersburg, or to smaller regional centers). The main idea is to assemble a group of Russian and American specialists who will be interested in going to Russia to teach and provide expert opinion on a variety of topics, to bring medical equipment, supplies, suture material and medications to the hospitals that need it most, to share medical experience with Russian physicians. If anybody has ideas and suggestions about this trip, please share them with other members on the Forum.

9. R-AMA Scholarship Program was discussed: the Board decided to ask Dr. Igor Efimov to put together a group of R-AMA members who will work out the details of this program and will report to the Board during the next meeting. The main idea is to support the best medical students in several medical schools in Russia and to allow them to visit US hospitals during a short 1-2 months fellowship every year.
