July Board Meeting
The Board of Directors of R-AMA held its 4th meeting on July 27th of 2004

Drs. George Muenster, Julia Frantsuzov, Nikolay Vasilyev and Boris Vinogradsky met at the Lake West Hospital, and Drs. Dmitry Arbuck, Elena Hudson, Michael Maysky and Ivan Alpatov participated through the teleconference.

Drs. Grigory Chernyak, Igor Efimov, Natalia Gorecki could not participate.

1. New members

The list of 16 people who applied for R-AMA membership have been presented for approval:

Maysky, Michael, MD - Cardiology - Massachusetts
DiPaola, Natalia, MD - OB/GYN - Michigan
Gordina, Alla, MD, FAAP - Pediatrics - New Jersey
Gordin, Larisa, MD (Ret.) - Dermatology - New Jersey
Gordin, Vadim - Student - New Jersey
Obukhoff, Dennis - Student - Ohio

2. Changes: Due to the change in the legal regulations, that do not allow the positions of the Secretary and Treasurer to be held by one person the Board approved the cooptation of Julia Frantsuzov, MD as R-AMA Treasurer. Dr. Natalia Gorecki will remain the Secretary of R-AMA.

3. 2nd R-AMA National Conference: An extensive discussion of preparations for the Conference took most of the meeting's time. Multiple issues were discussed:

    ·Travel arrangements
    ·Copying, name badges
    ·Hotel - Double Tree Boston Suites
    ·Transportation
    ·Board of Directors meeting - Boston, MA - 9/10/04 - 5PM

    ·Web cast of the Conference/separate presentations
    ·Equipment: audio, video - technician
    ·Hospital tour - RSVP web - limit 20 people
    ·Newspapers - Boston: Globe, Herald + Russian newspapers

    ·Food (breakfast, lunch, dinner) - Friday/Saturday

4. R-AMA Journal: Donna-Marie Mironchuk from Boston is the Journal's designer. The draft of the Journal is ready and it will be published on time for the Conference in September. Planned materials will include information about the Conference, about R-AMA, as well as abstracts and articles of presentations for the Conference, information about membership, classifieds, advertisement, information about our partners, sponsors, their products etc. Nikolay Vasilyev, MD is working on the project.

5. State Chapters: Formation of the Ohio (local) and Student (national) Chapters of R-AMA was completed. Dr. George Muenster is the President of the OH Chapter; Alla Kukuyev is an Interim President of the Student Chapter until the elections are held. Both will represent those chapters in the Council of the States of R-AMA.

6. Other less important issues were discussed. ALL updates will be published don the web site of the Association.
Next meeting of the BOD is scheduled for September 10th of 2004 in Boston, immediately before the Conference.
